Tourette Syndrome Association (TSA-USA) was founded in 1972 in Bayside, New York and is the only national voluntary non-profit membership organization in this field.

Tourette Syndrome Association of Illinois (TSA-IL) was founded in 1976, through our staff and volunteers.  We have served and supported those whose lives are affected by Tourette Syndrome by providing invaluable resources, compassion, friendship, education and events.  In addition to our mission statement detailed above, we strive to educate, promote acceptance, confidence and a place to share with others about your journey with TS and more importantly to realize you are not alone!  It takes a community to make the journey a bit easier and more pleasant.  If you haven't joined TSA-IL yet, please do so -- you won't regret it.

What is Tourette Syndrome?  Tourette Syndrome (TS) is a neurological disorder characterized by tics - sudden, rapid, involuntary movements or vocalizations that occur repeatedly.  The onset of symptoms is before the age of 18.  Symptoms vary widely in intensity throughout one's lifetime.  TS is frequently associated with other disorders including but not limited to Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD or ADHD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Anxiety, Depression and Learning Disabilities.  There is no cure for TS.  For additional information about TS, please see our FAQ TS tab.
